Delivery rules

A delivery rule tells how a user can get a video. A video can have more than one rule.

The rules

Rule Meaning in your application How the user gets access Billing API
SVOD In your subscription Your subscription subscription/subscribe
AdVOD In your subscription Your subscription subscription/subscribe
FVOD In your subscription Your subscription subscription/subscribe
TVOD Rent for a limited time A purchase of the video buyMovie
DTO Purchase without a time limit. Show it as "forever" A purchase of the video buyMovie

Trailers are free for all users.

WARNING

The Content API gives the stream of an AdVOD or FVOD video without a user and without a subscription. These videos are part of your subscription. Make sure that the user has your subscription before you request the stream.

Where to find the rules

Source Field
XML feed distributions/distribution@vod_type. object@vod shows only one rule
Content API, lists delivery_rules of each item
Content API, /video/info delivery_rules and purchase_info (the offers of your key)

The rules in the Content API are the rules of your key. Use them for the decision. The prices of the XML feed are MEGOGO tariffs: do not show them. Get the prices from /video/info.

Subscription

MEGOGO gives you a service ID for each subscription. A subscription period is usually 30 days. There are two renewal modes: automatic renewal by MEGOGO or renewal by you. See Sell a subscription.

Rent (TVOD)

  • The offers are in purchase_info.tvod of /video/info: one or more tariffs with a price, a period in days and a quality.
  • The rent period starts at the first /stream response with src, not at the purchase.
  • The quality of the tariff limits the stream (for example SD: up to 480).

Purchase without a time limit (DTO)

  • The offers are in purchase_info.dto. The structure is the same as TVOD. The period is large (for example 3650 days). Show "forever".
  • In user/subscriptions, DTO purchases are in the dto array, without an end date.

See Sell a single title.
